Story Writing
Image result for pictures to describe a bloody sceneThe eyes on the painting followed her down the corridor. The cold air brushed past her as she started to run. Running as fast as she could she couldn't help but notice a body figure standing in the distance. As she got closer she could see him more clearly. Standing in front of her was a man covered in blood.
"I didn't mean to kill her" he said with such joy. He giggled. It made my blood boil. Standing in front of was a murderer. Another man approached us. In his hand was a knife. You could see smears of blood on it. He look so mortified. I started drawing routes in my head of how to escape the situation.
"Three of us. Just three of us left. Only one will live to see the morning" I whispered underneath my breathe. With them standing in front of me I knew at that moment that I wouldn't be able to escape. I then scrolled my eyes back to the knife. I could see that the tip of the knife was blunt. I made a run.

DNA of a Strawberry

In Science we got offered to design an experiment. The experiment was to be based around DNA and how you can extract it.

Extract DNA from a Strawberry:

AIM:
The purpose of this experiment is to find the DNA of a strawberry. Strawberries are easy to manipulate and contain a large amount of genome. Strawberries have an octoploid genome, meaning the nucleus has eight copies of each chromosome. In saying that the chromosomes located in the nucleus allows us to extract the DNA inside of it.

EQUIPMENT:
Dish soap - 10ml
Beaker(small), Test tube
Plastic Bag
Strainer
Tweezers
Strawberries - one or two
Measuring Cups/Spoons
Salt - 1/4 Tsp
Isopropyl Alcohol - 5ml
Water - 90ml

METHOD:
Using the alcohol extraction method, to find the DNA, will make it visible to the naked eye.
Add water, dish soap and salt to create the mixture to help break down the cells wall is the strawberry. Then add the strawberry is to a plastic bag, then add the wet solution to it. Remove as mush air as you can and then start compressing it. Do that until there are no big pieces. Using a strainer will help separate the liquids from the solids. Using a spoon press to gently to extract any liquid left. Transfer that solution to a smaller beaker and add iced Isopropyl alcohol. The DNA will then be visible in the layer of Isopropyl alcohol.

RESULTS:
We ended up finding strands from a banana

  • Didn't keep to time - because

  • Read the method properly

  • Time management to get an overview of what we are doing

6.3.18

Positives
Negatives
Next Time….
  • Group persona hygiene
  • Safety

  • We followed the method

  • Patties were cooked all the way through

  • People weren’t doing the same amount of work as others

  • Communicate with each other

  • Add flavouring

Observations:

Heart Attack

What is a heart attack:
A heart attack is when blood vessels that supply to the heart is blocked, preventing enough oxygen from getting to the heart. The coronary arteries bring blood to the heart. In this case if blood flow is blocked, the heart is starved of oxygen and the heart cells die.

The cause of heat attacks and how to prevent one:
Image result for heart attackMost heart attacks are caused by a blood clot that blocks one of the coronary arteries. To prevent one, exercise daily or several times a week. Walking for example is a good form of exercise. Talk to your doctor before starting an exercise routine.

Symptoms and treatments of a heart attacks:
Chest pain is a major symptom. You may also feel pain in only one part of your body or it may move from your chest to your arms, shoulders, neck, teeth, jaw and back area. Treatments to these symptoms is an EGC machine so the health team can look at how their heart is beating.

Slave Trade Map

Well the Slave Trade Map is a map of which Europeans made first contact with Africans, The first passage and European Nations trading with the African Kings. The map also shows the Slave Trade Triangle. The triangle being a route of trading guns for slaves, slaves were auctioned to get cotton and tobacco and cotton and tobacco and cotton for guns and weapons. In this case the process just repeats itself.

Art 2018

Tone of Drawings

I learned about proportions using guidelines. An example of that is using circle shapes to be able to draw realistically.

2 Min thumbnail sketches form Michael Mew

Cut outs from Readers Digest (focal points and backgrounds)

Inspired by Michael Mew, we were given 2 mins to draw examples of his art. We were to find the (Focal points, backgrounds, the division of space in the grid, and the 2D/3D contrasts)
