As part of PBL, we decided to do the action of doing a walk. The whole purpose of the walk was to experience how girls are taken away into slavery, human trafficking and sales. On Wednesday 29th, 2017 was the walk day. We walked from school to Westfield Mall and back. It took approximately THREE hours. At the end, we had sore feet and were hot even though it was an overcast. During the walk, we got a lot of honks from passing cars and thumbs up even some encouraging words from passing pedestrians. We were even able to walk through the mall getting stares. And somehow it took us a week to make 4 posters. Whoops. And only ONE looked good! There was only one mishap were a man passing in a car pulled the finger at us... But other than that everything was good! We had a great day and returned to school with pride.

"Hokay"
To help us understand further information on gender issues we needed to find websites that gave us information on the topic we chose. These are the websites we accessed:
We then had to answer some questions about our topic;
Who is affected: Everyone globally is affected by gender inequality
What are the issues: Men thinking that women are fragile therefore they sell or seduce them
When and how did it start: When European started enslaving women
Where is it happening: It's happening in countries that have a high population homelessness
Why is it happening: Because of the thought that's been put into our minds that men are better and stronger and meant to be dominating
Then we had to make an action plan to help our situation;
Since its hard for us to actually help the women affected by this we are planning on making posters and pamphlets about gender inequality and posting them around school plus putting them up around our community. We would also like to contact Tearfund and ask what we can do to help
At Hornby High School we have been asked how we can have a positive impact on the community?
To do this first I had to choose a topic. I specifically chose Gender Issues because I think it affects many people in the community and would like to make a different appearance on this issue. We formed a group called "Hokay". In the group was Michelle, Tyrepa and I.

The first day of PBL wasn't as enjoyable as I would've liked it to be, but it was alright. The first period of it seemed pretty loud and noisy to my understanding, but we still managed to get pass checkpoint 1. We were hoping to get pass checkpoint two but didn't manage to do so. Overall first day of PBL wasn't that bad.

Ethos, Logos, Pathos
Ethos, Pathos and Logos
Ethos, Pathos and Logos are central to the art of persuasion. They are grouped into many different things based on persuasive language. They appeal to the ethics, emotions and logic part of things in terms of pursuing.
Ethos is a technique to convince or persuade an audience. Ethos is seen in action all the time. For example politicians, uses ethical appeals to establish themselves as trustworthy individuals.
Examples of Ethos….
- "As a doctor, I am qualified to tell you that this course of treatment will likely generate the best results."
- "The veterinarian says that an Australian shepherd will be the perfect match for our active lifestyle."
These refer to an individual showing the credibility it has to showcase their characteristic images
Pathos, appeals to your audience’s emotions or imaginations. It's the enthusiasm that gets them fired up about some cause these appeals rouse feelings of fear, pity, anger etc.
Examples of Pathos….
- "If we don’t move soon, we’re all going to die! Can’t you see how dangerous it would be to stay?"
- "I’m not just invested in this community – I love every building, every business, every hard-working member of this town."
These examples show how the audience express their emotions and imagination based on your appearance.
Logos, aren’t just brand symbols. In the context of rhetoric, logos appeals to an audience’s logic point of view. Logical appeals are common in courtrooms, where evidence is used to support claims.
Examples of Logos….
- "The data is perfectly clear: this investment has consistently turned a profit year-over-year, even in spite of market declines in other areas."
- "History has shown time and again that absolute power corrupts absolutely."
Because this is in the logic part of persuasion, these examples show the evidence it needs to prove its point.

Dora the explorer
Story: Dora The Explorer
Outline:
Dora was a great Explorer
So there was this chick right, Dora, who was like a badass explorer. She explored up, down, left and right. She even explored through daily problems.
Swiper was vengful
So this chick Dora; lived in Spain in a town called Madrid. At this time it was ruled by Swiper the fox. Well at this time right Swiper was like the worst person to Dora ever.
Dora never gave up
So even though Swiper was like a badass swiper, Dora never gave up and made sure that her exploration was done.
So Swiper challenged her
Swiper. i mean we all know what he was like, anyway, Swiper challenged Dora to a swiping contest. Although Swiper was like a pro at it Dora still wouldn't give up just yet.
It wasn't a competition after all
Dora and Swiper were frenemies. But Dora still managed to not let Swiper swipe her stuff.

Go Red!
The journal I read was Go Red!
This book was written by Sue Gibbison.
It's mostly about a Soccer team from Northland and what they do on the day of the game. From the time they get to the fields and after.
This story reminds me of a friend of mine that plays soccer.
Suitable for all ages

Kapa Haka Diary
Kapa Haka
The name of the journal that I read was a Kapa Haka Diary. This Journal was released in the 2000 and it was published by Learning Media in Wellington.
The whole book is a diary of a kids journey through their Kapa Haka experience. It was written by Shirley Cormack. The story talks about someones Kapa Haka group and their mentors.
I think this is a good story but it could use a bit more text.

Market Day (Business and Enterprise)
Wiki Wraps
My group wasn't very helpful. During the whole Market day I had to stand at our stall and sell the product while the rest were just wondering of. This very thing got on my nerves. Next year (if year 10's are going to be doing it) I hope to work with people who are committed and don't wonder of.
Overall I really enjoyed it. It was a huge step up from last year which in my opinion was phenomenal. My group/company made a profit of $30.00 which was outstanding. I really enjoyed the process of making the product rather than the Business work. :):)

Create and Sell
How can I sell my elixir to the Carmen Road Academy Cafe?
I can tell them how good the drink tastes and that it can get rid pimples, acne and all that stuff
I can persuade them and tell them Its sugar free and that its full of the citrus goodness
Is it reasonably priced? Honest?
The price i want it at is $8.00 a glass,
RESPECT the consumer? Ethics?
Is my product safe? Do no harm. Does it make people sick?

Am I making true claims for it?
