Language Feature III

IMAGERY

- What is it?
Imagery means to use figurative language to represent objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses.

- What is its effect/ why is it used?
Imagery makes use of particular words that create a visual representation of ideas in our minds. 

- Find two well-known examples

Language Feature II

ANTITHESIS

- What is it?
An antithesis is a person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else.

- What is its effect/ why is it used?
It is used to emphasize the contrast between phrases or clauses. 

- Find two well-known examples

Language Feature

ANAPHORA:

- What is it?
Anaphora is the deliberate repetition of a word or phrase in the first part of a sentence.

- What is its effect/ why is it used?
It very effective if one wishes to emphasize the subject of an action. anaphora is used for the purpose of generating a particular effect on your audience.

- Find two well-known examples
With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right— Abraham Lincoln
