‘Having a friend is more important than having money’

Is having money more important than having a friend? Sure enough, money can buy you short-term happiness but it’s incomparable to the endless happiness a friendship can provide. As the old saying goes ⸺ ‘Money can never buy you happiness’. I know the idea of poverty may seem life-threatening, if you have a friend by your side at rough times, then poverty may not seem as horrible as it should.

I am a strong believer that some feel that having money is more valuable than having a friend, but others seem to think otherwise. In my opinion, I truly believe that without friends to spend your money with, there is no need for money in this case. Imagine having the money to buy a brand new shirt that you have been itching to buy but have no friends to kindly “show-it-off” too. You would have bored yourself out at the fact that you actually got it, and no one would care that you even had it. Think of this as being in a personal loop of being happy at the moment, then being solely alone. Nothing you would want to go through, right? Friends are what makes spending money ‘worthwhile’.

So my opinion has been stated, but let’s just look at the other side of things and pretend that money is better than having friends. If in this situation, your friend buys a drink and you ask for one, what do you think the answer would be. The answer to this situation would most-likely be to buy them one as well. This can be, in some sense, irritating ff these friends were never there, on the other hand, you could have the drink and keep some change all to yourself. This may sound selfish, but who cares right? After all, there is no-one to spend the money on anyway.

After telling you my opinions, I think the answer is crystal clear. Friends play an important part in the way you use and share money, regardless of the situation. After reading this, do you think money can buy happiness? Can money buy family? Can money buy friends? Money or Friends… what would be your choice?.
